What's happening: The scheduled emergency preparedness drill involving Ramsey High School (RHS) and Tisdale School on Wednesday, November 12th, was executed successfully and efficiently.
Why it matters: This important exercise focused on evacuation, relocation, and reunification procedures, specifically simulating the movement of Grade 12 students from RHS to Tisdale School, followed by the practice of secure reunification processes with parents or guardians.
π Outstanding Cooperation and Participation: We want to sincerely commend the outstanding cooperation and disciplined participation of our Grade 12 students.
Their focused effort ensured the drill proceeded smoothly and allowed all procedures to be practiced under realistic conditions.
The success of this complex, two-school exercise was a direct result of their cooperation and commitment to helping us all see this through.
π‘ Successful Preparedness Measures: The drill achieved its primary goal: to successfully familiarize students, staff, and local authorities with established procedures for a safe and orderly reunification if a significant school emergency. This exercise was a vital component of our ongoing commitment to enhance emergency preparedness and ensure the safety of our students.
This successful drill underscored our capabilities and validated the procedures detailed in our move to the Standard Response Protocol.
π€ Collaborative Effort: The drill was a collaborative effort involving key partners, which highlights the successful measures taken to ensure we are prepared as a District in case of emergency:
Our District School Safety Team
The Ramsey Police Department
The Ramsey Office of Emergency Management (OEM)
The coordination between the District and local authorities during this simulation was excellent, providing all participants with important, hands-on experience concerning our procedures.
Please note: This proactive approach to emergency preparedness, which involved two schools and students moving across town, was not the result of any increased threat but a successful step forward in our commitment to student safety and inter-agency coordination.
We extend our deep appreciation once again to the entire school community for their understanding and cooperation throughout the planning and execution of this critical drill. Special thanks to our volunteer parents who made a true reunification possible for this exercise. π€
