The behind the scenes of preparing for our Friendship Cafe bake sales. This month, S.T.E.P. had the honor of collaborating with GSA. Thank you to all who supported GSA by buying something sweet or simply donating!

Mrs. Shahinian's 9th grade students worked collaboratively to practice research skills and then communicated their findings to the class.

It was an honor to sit down and talk to Faith, a senior at RHS, for an episode on the mental health of students with exceptionalities. I love that she has continued her profile project and is raising awareness for the mental health of all students. Check out our episode on her podcast, Done with Faith!

Thank you, Smith and Dr. Esdale for allowing S.T.E.P. to collaborate with Ms. Garciaβs class. Together, we hosted a Ramsey Bean pop-up and provided Smith staff with an afternoon pick-me-up. We had so much fun meeting new teachers and working alongside our friends. Bravo to the best baristas in town βοΈ

Mrs. Rodriguez's 10th graders are giving mini-defense presentations on their choice book. Not only is this great practice for their profile projects, but it's a more authentic way of demonstrating their skills.

Sophomore Parent Night is in full swing at RHS. Pictured is Mrs. Kilday leading the introductory warm up "The College Admissions Game". Parents will get a general overview of how students can maximize their Ramsey High School experience from Director of School Counseling, Ms. Lemma Taha. Parents will attend breakout sessions with their teen's counselor. The counselor will convey important information to parents help them to work with their teens in making informed decisions. In addition, counselors will continue to build relationships with families.

These professionals are representatives from Ramsey High School, and Dr. Julie Norflus-Good, NJCEC President, at The 2024 New Jersey Council for Exceptional Children Spring Conference, High Level Practices.
The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted. CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides continual professional development, advocates for newly and historically underserved individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice.
The conference featured cutting-edge Professional Development and networking opportunities. A wide array of sessions were geared to meet the interests and needs of those working with children with special needs.
Kaylin Bessler, Ramsey High School Social Studies teacher, presented the following at NJCEC: Empowering Education with Artificial Intelligence (Al): Strategies for the Classroom.

S.T.E.P. students celebrated their heritages after months of research by inviting guests of honor to try the foods they made to represent their cultures and presenting all they learned about where their families come from. While celebrating our differences, we also found so many things we have in common.
