Students in 3Lajam are making observations about fractions, comparing the smallest to the largest piece and writing the corresponding fraction numbers in order on their whiteboards! As they work through the CPA model (Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract), they’re building a deeper understanding of fractions and their relationships.

Mrs. Frank caught in action during WIN (What I Need) time, which is an important part of our school day. Our teachers provide targeted, small-group instruction to help each student achieve their individual learning goals. WIN time is a dedicated period where students receive focused support based on their unique needs, whether it’s enrichment or additional help, ensuring every child receives the attention and resources they need to succeedπŸ’‘

Students in 3Lee are exploring fractions by comparing sizes of different fractional parts! Using hands-on manipulatives like fraction tiles and cut-out brownie pieces, they are practicing putting fractions in order from smallest to largest. As they work, students are caught discussing their reasoning and making connections about how numerators and denominators affect the size of the fraction. This interactive approach helps them visualize how parts of a whole fit together, while fostering deep math talk and enhancing their foundational math skills.

We welcomed our Hubbard students back with exciting new additions, thanks to our occupational therapist, Mrs. Diaz, and physical therapist, Ms. Bailey! The sensory boxes, located in the kindergarten/Pre-K wing and gym lobby, provide students with an additional option for sensory breaks throughout the day. These boxes help enrich our students’ school experience by offering a moment to reset and refocus. A big thank you to Mrs. Diaz and Ms. Bailey for their dedication to enhancing our students’ learning environment!

Presidents Day
In this engaging math activity, students are practicing their number sense by using whiteboards to work on math problems, including subtraction and addition within 100. This hands-on learning allows them to visualize their thinking, make connections between numbers, and deepen their understanding of key math concepts, all while building fluency. Through activities like this, 2nd graders at Hubbard School are actively honing their mathematical skills and preparing for more complex problem-solving!

We loved seeing Mrs. Frank support and represent within Hubbard School for P.S. I Love You Day, helping to spread kindness and raise awareness for mental health in our Ramsey community. The P.S. I Love You Day sweatshirt sale, organized by RHS Student Congress, brings our community together in support of an important causeβ€”100% of proceeds will be donated to West Bergen Mental Health and the P.S. I Love You Day organization. Plus, this year’s design is a Ramsey original, created by Reese Connell and Massimo Randazzo (StuCo officers), along with RHS Art teacher Danielle Robertson.Let’s continue to show support, spread kindness, and remind everyone that they are never alone! πŸ’œ
