Kindergarteners in K-Coleman are having a blast using geoboards to create shapes and explore their mathematical thinking! 💭 Through hands-on learning, students are developing a deeper understanding of shapes and their properties. This activity ties into the Concrete-Representational-Abstract (CPA) approach, where students first manipulate physical objects (geoboards), then represent their ideas visually, and eventually move to more abstract concepts. What a fun way to build a strong math foundation!

At Hubbard School, we are proud to celebrate our students’ embodiment of Acceptance throughout January! Our students continue to show kindness, inclusivity, and respect, making our school community stronger each day. As we move into February, we focus on Compassion—let’s continue to spread kindness and support one another, both in and out of the classroom. 💙💛 How will you show compassion today?

School Pride Day Tomorrow! Pajama Day on Monday!

Due to reports of projected dangerous road conditions, Ramsey School District will be closed today, Thursday, February 6, 2025.
Before -care and after-care are canceled.
If conditions improve, after school athletics and activities may be held. Coaches and advisors will notify students.

What makes the Ramsey community truly special is the strong connection between parents and the school. At the last PTO meeting, Mrs. Burns shared an inspiring update about the Defense of Learning presentation by three high school students. These students presented in front of a panel of board members, speaking eloquently and passionately about their work. This connects to the exciting opportunity for our third-grade students to participate in a Profile Project, where they can explore their learning in a meaningful way and share their insights with others. See you at our next PTO meeting on Wednesday, February 26th! Your involvement continues to help foster a positive, collaborative environment for everyone at Hubbard School.

Did you know this week is National School Counseling Week? We want to take a moment to highlight Mrs. Linden, our amazing school counselor, who always goes above and beyond to support the whole child. 🌟 Whether she’s checking in with students in the hallway or offering guidance when needed, Mrs. Linden makes sure every student feels cared for and understood.
Recently, one of our third graders, George, shared how thankful he was for Mrs. Linden teaching him how to take a Meta-Moment. Her guidance helps ALL students pause and reflect, which empowers them to manage their emotions and make thoughtful decisions. Mrs. Linden’s support creates a positive and nurturing environment at Hubbard School. 💙💛

Today, Hubbard School celebrated the magic of words as we joined millions of people worldwide for World Read Aloud Day! Whether through reading in the classroom or siblings sharing stories with each other, students came together to celebrate the power of storytelling. 📖✨
World Read Aloud Day, organized by LitWorld, highlights the transformative power of reading aloud and the joy it brings to communities across the globe.

“Play is the work of childhood” – Fred Rogers 🌟 At Hubbard School, we embrace the power of play as a tool for learning, collaboration, and building essential life skills. From problem-solving to teamwork, our students are making great strides in their growth, all while having fun. These activities help foster skills that align with the Profile of a Ramsey Graduate, encouraging creativity, communication, and collaboration in our future leaders! A special thank you to our teachers who joined in on the fun, learning the rules and “how-to’s” from the students themselves! It was a true example of shared learning and teamwork. Don’t forget to swipe left to see what our students had to say about Global School Play Day! #GlobalSchoolPlayDay #LearningThroughPlay #RamseyPride #ProfileOfARamseyGraduate

First graders in 1Berland caught in action as they compare lengths in math. Using visual aids like the fish illustrations and number lines, they are learning how to measure and find the difference between two objects. It’s a hands-on approach to grasping essential math concepts!

Mrs. Royle and Ms. Lee’s class headed outdoors for a quick and fun game of kickball together! ⚽️🏃♀️ It was a great way to get moving, enjoy the fresh air, and build teamwork skills while having a blast (Check out Mrs. Royle's kick!).

First grade magic in action! ✨ Mrs. Spaccavento is working with her small group, providing personalized attention and hands-on learning to help each student grow. It’s amazing to see these young learners thrive with such focused support!

This is what learning looks like in kindergarten when students retell their Star Book of the week focusing on: characters, setting and sequence of events. The Mitten retold through performance with memorable moments of pure fun and lots of laughter.

This week was Silly Pennies Week at Hubbard! Our second graders worked hard, applying their math skills by adding and subtracting pennies as part of this fun fundraiser. It was a great way to connect real-life math to a meaningful activity! A big thank you to all of our students and families for participating and making this event a success.

HU Pre-K students are exploring creativity with snow painting, a Reggio-inspired activity that sparks curiosity and encourages self-expression. By using natural elements like snow, students engage in sensory exploration and develop fine motor skills while connecting with their environment. This hands-on activity fosters creativity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Silly Pennies at Hubbard School. We are having a great time learning about money while enjoying friendly competition too. We are sorting our silver coins from our cooper ones. Shout out to our second grade friends who count and track the points each day.

“Measuring in first grade: where cubes, inch tiles, and paperclips become tools of discovery! Watching little minds explore length is a reminder that learning is all about curiosity and creativity. 📏
