Students in 3Jordan are writing detectives! By studying an exemplary piece of writing, they’re noticing strong word choices, structure, and craft techniques they can apply to their own work. These intentional reflections help students grow their writing and think like real authors.
Mrs. Murphy’s class is diving into contractions! Students used sentence strips to build word equations like you + will = you’ll—and even added a bandaid on the apostrophe to show what’s missing. What a creative and memorable way to learn how words come together!
Last Friday we wrapped up our March spirit days with "Our Future is Bright!" Students and staff lit up the halls in their brightest neon gear to celebrate all the possibilities ahead. It was a fun and vibrant way to end the week! ❤️🧡🩷💜💙🩵💚💛

Our third grade families are in for a treat! Students are wrapping up their final rehearsals for the upcoming Celebration of Cultures show. Not only does this performance align with Unit 3 in reading and writing—Culture, Curiosity, and Research—but it also beautifully bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world connection, showcasing the rich stories and traditions that shape who we are. 🌍💫
Students in Mrs. Weiss’s class were on the move today—literally! They practiced measuring their jumps using inches, feet, and yards, turning math into a fun and active learning experience.
In Mrs. Chantaski’s first grade class, morning meeting is more than just a routine—it’s a thoughtful way to start the day and build a strong classroom community. Students use the Mood Meter to express how they’re feeling with words like “ecstatic” or “a bit worried,” helping them develop emotional awareness and self-reflection. Most importantly, this daily practice creates a safe and supportive space where students feel seen, heard, and valued. When children feel safe to share, they’re more ready to learn, grow, and support one another.

Mrs. Crispino and Mrs. Fiedeldey, our incredible instructional coaches, work tirelessly behind the scenes to collaborate and share innovative ideas with one another. Recently, our third grade teachers brought one of those ideas to life—applying a strategy from the coaches to support book clubs. Now, students set purposeful goals before meeting with their groups, whether it’s writing a summary, diving into character study, or focusing on a specific reading strategy. A small shift with a big impact! 📚✨
First graders took on the Newark Museum with wide eyes and curious minds! From art to science, they explored, discovered, and soaked in every moment of wonder. What a memorable adventure!

What makes Hubbard so special? It’s the little moments—like taking a quick break to visit our flurry friend! No matter the classroom, students are always welcomed with open arms (and paws!) by teachers and staff alike, reminding us that kindness, connection, and comfort are part of the everyday magic at Hubbard School.
