We are excited to share that Ms. Collado, our school counselor, received a grant from the RPEF to bring STEM kits to our third grade students! These kits were thoughtfully designed to support the development of teamwork and cooperation through hands-on learning experiences. Students worked together to build remote-controlled cars, providing a fun and engaging way to strengthen collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Why it matters: When students actively build and create together, they have authentic opportunities to practice essential social-emotional skills. Through this experience, students learned how to communicate effectively, take on roles within a group, resolve challenges, and support one another. These skills are critical not only for academic success but also for building strong relationships and confidence!
The big picture: This activity reflects our commitment to integrating social-emotional learning with meaningful, hands-on experiences. Students developed teamwork skills by establishing group roles, reaching group agreements, and reflecting on their collaboration skills.

We are excited about the positive impact this experience will have on our third graders and appreciate the RPEF’s continued support in fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment!
