Why it matters: Students with unblemished attendance-no absences and no tardies- have a chance to be recognized and win prizes, motivating them to maintain good attendance.

Go deeper: Attendance Works is a nationwide action research project collaborating with school districts, states, and organizations to continuously improve strategies for reducing chronic absence. Here are several research findings collected by the project:

  • When students improve their attendance rates, they improve their academic prospects and chances for graduating.
