At our recent School Pride assembly, our third grade RAMbassadors helped teach the whole school how to take a Meta Moment. A Meta Moment is a strategy from the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence that reminds us to stop, notice our feelings, think about the kind of person we want to be, and then choose a response that shows our best self. It is a small pause that can make a big difference.
Our RAMbassadors are third grade student leaders who exemplify RISE: Respect, Independence, Self control, and Empathy. They show these qualities every day in their classrooms and around the school, and they help make our community kind, welcoming, and supportive. During the assembly, they demonstrated how a Meta Moment can help in real situations, especially when we feel frustrated, disappointed, or overwhelmed.
Learning this routine together was important. It gave all students a shared way to pause, calm down, solve problems, and take care of one another. When we use a Meta Moment, we help our school remain a safe and caring place where everyone can learn and grow.
We are very proud of our third grade RAMbassadors for leading the lesson and showing what it truly looks like when students help our school RISE.
