In a moment that reflected both confidence and purpose, Hubbard preschoolers met with the PTO board to express their gratitude for the continued support of the school’s community garden and to share thoughtful ideas for what could come next.

While the garden itself continues to grow, so do the learners who care for it. Even at the preschool level, students are developing the foundational competencies of a Ramsey graduate. Through this experience, they demonstrated communication, collaboration, and a growing sense of responsibility as they spoke in front of an authentic audience and contributed ideas that matter to their community.

This work reflects our commitment to supporting the whole child. Beyond academics, students are learning how to express their thinking, listen to others, and see themselves as capable contributors. Their ability to reflect, advocate, and engage meaningfully shows that these competencies are not reserved for older students. They begin early and are nurtured intentionally.

Rooted in a Reggio-inspired approach, our preschool team values student voice, curiosity, and real-world connections. The community garden serves as more than just a space for planting. It is a living classroom where children explore, question, and take ownership of their learning. Presenting to the PTO board extended this work beyond the classroom, reinforcing that their ideas are valued and can have a real impact.

Moments like these highlight what is possible when young learners are given the opportunity to lead. The future of the Hubbard community garden is bright, and it is being shaped by thoughtful, engaged students who are already beginning to embody what it means to be a Ramsey graduate.
