We are immersing ourselves in the ideas of literary essay writing and the way we can write about what we read. We have discovered that a possible common theme of Ish and The Dot, both by Peter Reynolds, is that if we change the way we think, it's possible to change the way we feel. Both are great books showing the power of encouraging words.

Ramsey teachers were hard at work today working on curriculum and also exploring AI in education. To help frame the work around AI, we had the pleasure of working with Greg Kulowiec, one of the best ed tech consultants in the country.
From Greg: "I always enjoy working with the educators in Ramsey, New Jersey. They are a thoughtful and engaging group, who are consistently learning leaders in the world of academic technology. Today, we explored artificial intelligence and the potential impact on their role as educators, and the impact on their students. We looked at foundational thinking around AI, understanding how it can provide both significant opportunities and create challenges and risks at the same time. My hope is that everyone left our day together, able to balance two conflicting perspectives. First, a healthy skepticism around AI and second, to be able to embrace a tempered optimism."

Kevin Wanzer visited Dater school to use comedy to teach kindness, inclusion, and apprecisting differences.
Kevin has presented to thousands of audiences to share his unique message of "aloha."
Students and staff loved Kevin's humerous and heartfelt approach to these important topics.

Way to go, 5-Jezequel, for finding solutions to real-world problems! Our model TED Talk was the idea of "planting" or "seeding" sea glass. The three reasons we should NOT do this are: 1. It's littering and therefore illegal; 2. It's dangerous to humans and sea life; and 3. You can make you own "tumbled" sea glass in a rock tumbler. We went for it and made our own!!

5J is really coming through for our friends at Andrea's Home in Bolivia! We delivered our first batch of Bagels for Bolivia as we raise money for their school supplies.

β οΈ COMMUNITY UPDATE: The Ramsey Public Library will be closed from Tuesday, March 26 through Sunday, March 31 for its HVAC system replacement project.
Please notify your student(s) who may typically visit after school. π
