
What a great way to bring 5th grade to an end... things CHANGE when people take action. Students consider unfair treatment as they reflected on how barriers can be removed when people change the way they think.

Dater 5th graders are working together to brainstorm, sketch and paint a mural to represent the 3R's: Responsibility, Respect and Resiliency! Way to go Dater artists! So proud of this group for being responsible and showing up every morning at 8AM ready to create a work for our school! 🎨⭐️

Day 4 of Undercover Spirit Week was "Dress Like a Student" Day. The teachers' outfits did not disappoint! They were so good that it was even hard to tell them apart from the students in the hallway! 😂



Days 2 and 3 of Undercover Spirit Week were fun and festive! On Tuesday, teachers taught lessons in socks and sandals. 🧦 🩴 Today, students didn't know if it was October, December, or July! Teachers dressed up to represent their favorite holidays. 🎃🎄🇺🇸 Students can't wait to see what Thursday and Friday will bring!





Have you heard people talking about Dater's Undercover Spirit Week? Students are starting to realize something silly is going on at Dater! To celebrate the end of the year, each day, teachers are participating in a mystery spirit day, and students have to guess what it is. Monday started off with "Anything but a cup" Day. Teachers walked the hallways drinking beverages out of pineapples, blenders, and baby bottles! Stay tuned for more theme days...





5Gesualdo/Thomson and 5Modesto/Azouri are exploring the 5 R's and different ways to preserve our environment. 🌎




Students in 4 O'Rourke are still hard at work in their Realistic Fiction Book Clubs, engaging deeply with characters, themes, and meaningful discussions.


Students in 4CR exploring Ireland on a budget! Students dive into real-world math as they plan a six-day Irish adventure, balancing spending and budgeting through project-based learning. 🍀💰✈️





To wrap up an amazing Field Day at Dater School, students took part in the Ice Bucket Challenge for mental health awareness! By donating $1–$5, they cast their votes for which teacher would get iced—and the results were both chilly and unforgettable! A fun, meaningful way to cool off and support a great cause. 💧🧊💙








Our Dater 5th graders had an unforgettable time at Field Day, showing off their incredible teamwork and school spirit—even in the heat! Dressed in festive attire and bright colors, students cheered each other on, competed with heart, and celebrated the end of the year with energy and smiles all around. The sunshine couldn't stop the fun! ☀️🎉









The 3D printers in the Dater ITC have been working around the clock to get all of the students' creations printed! Look what wonderful work they did!






Picturing America in 5Gesualdo/Thomson! Students in 5GT learned about stain-glassed windows within paintings and as a type of art form itself! Thank you to Mrs. Schroeder for bringing in this exciting activity! 🎨🧑🎨







Interactive geometry brain break promoting communication and collaboration. Students created symmetrical designs by giving and following precise verbal instructions-without seeing their partner’s work.


Winners from the Book Swap enjoyed a fun game of kickball today! Both the 4th and 5th grade classes had excellent sportsmanship!


This morning, the 4th grade students gathered for a day they had eagerly anticipated all year—Field Day! With colorful team shirts, plenty of sunscreen, and a healthy dose of excitement, students rotated through a variety of fun-filled events including relay races, pickleball, capture the flag, and soccer.
While the physical challenges brought plenty of energy and cheers, it was the spirit of sportsmanship that truly stole the show. Students clapped for their classmates, encouraged their teammates, and even high-fived members of opposing teams. Field Day 2025 was more than just a day of games—it was a celebration of what makes Dater Elementary so special: teamwork, empathy, and the joy of growing together. Here's to our incredible students, whose sportsmanship made the day unforgettable! ⚽️🏀🏈⚾️🥎🎾
