¿Dónde vives? 4th graders practiced their interpersonal speaking skills in Spanish class! Students pretended they lived in different Hispanic countries and had to find their match by asking, "¿dónde vives?"

Standing tall like the Great Wall itself! 📸Students from 5Johnstone and 5Davidson transformed into a historical timeline, recreating the Great Wall of China across different eras. What a creative way to kick off our Ancient China unit and help the students visualize how this incredible structure evolved over centuries!

5Gesualdo/Thomson, we couldn't be prouder of you for showing your compassionate hearts! 💕 Our students collected new and gently used pencils, pencil cases, pencil sharpeners, and erasers that were given to students in Africa who didn't have these valuable resources. ✏️
The 5th grade GATE crew started building their robots! Eventually these bots will deliver ice cold beverages to the staff. A fully automated refreshment bot is headed your way! 🤖🦾
Students in 4G have fully immersed themselves in our biography unit! After thoughtfully interviewing their relatives, Ms. Guarnieri sparked curiosity and inquiry-based learning by sharing artifacts from her own life. Students eagerly observed, wondered, and made inferences by collaborating with one another to build ideas, share perspectives, and deepen their understanding of how we can learn about a person’s story through meaningful details. We can’t wait to see how this curiosity continues to grow as students begin exploring the lives of notable figures!
5 Modesto/Azouri had an engaging and informative Picturing America lesson led by one of our class moms. The students were fully involved and enjoyed creating their own unique pieces of artwork to share with the class. 🎨🖌️🖼️
On the carpet, she dove into reading an article with curiosity and courage. Sounding out tricky words, asking questions and never giving up. Learning isn't always easy, but effort like this is what growth looks like in Mrs. McGowan's class.

Overheard during a 5th grade Socratic Seminar discussing the finer points of an ancient Greek democracy and an ancient Roman republic: the benefits of voting in all decisions versus electing a consul to represent you, the conditions of plebeians leading to the 12 Tables of Law to make life fairer with the patricians. These are some intelligent 5th graders!
