To celebrate Valentine's Day before break, students in 5Modesto/Azouri & 5Gesualdo/Thomson learned how to use descriptive language and proper grammar to develop thoughtful compliments. Each student wrote a meaningful compliment for every classmate in our Humanities class and also received one in return. Reading the compliments at the end of the activity made us all smile and helped us appreciate our kind and loving classroom community on this special day of love. 💕

Dater 4th graders explored observational drawing by carefully sketching art tools, color wheels, and pop art–inspired designs. Along the way, they practiced watercolor techniques, focusing on color mixing, brush control, and creative expression. 🎨 🖼️

Students in 5Jezequel interviewed Mrs. Hodge, who actually has lived with an indigenous group of people in the rain forest of Bolivia. This was the final piece of research, with perspective in mind, as students consider the practice of burning in preparation for planting and harvesting. 🪴 🌳

The Dater/Wandell Book Club had its second lunch/recess meeting of the year, and it was paws-itively amazing! As we discussed A Dog’s Life, our conversation was full of thoughtful insights and big feelings. Even through the screen on Google Meet, you could feel the friendships growing stronger — proving that this club is truly the ulti-mutt place to be! 🐾📚📖

Two 5th graders, whose information research writing was focused on gaming and animation, included an interview with Ciara Bergin, director of marketing for Interpret, a global consumer insights firm operating at the intersection of media, entertainment and technology. 🎥

Thank you Officer Beamon and the Dater PTO volunteers for helping to organize a fantastic evening of tubing with friends through the LEAD Program! There was no shortage of laughing, screaming, racing, snacking, and socializing with our awesome community at our local Campgaw mountain. Go Rams!

Dater teachers are always learning-- and creating! At today's faculty meeting, Principal Glebocki reminded us that creativity isn't just an extra in the classroom; it's essential. When we nurture creativity in our teachers, we ignite it in our students too!
