Dear Dater Community,

I am humbled to welcome you to John Y. Dater School as the proud principal of this vibrant school of fourth and fifth grade Rams!  It is my joy to get to know each child at Dater and to support their growth at this crucial time in their development as learners and leaders.

I believe education is the most important opportunity a person can be afforded and so I am committed to ensuring that instruction at Dater School will always be accessible and valuable to our diverse learners.  I believe we are responsible for preparing each student for the modern world: to be kind, to be accepting of others, to think creatively, to think critically, to face adversity, to be mindful, to receive feedback, to be flexible, to think globally, and to lead. 

Together with the Dater team of educators and families, with the Profile of a Ramsey Graduate as our guide, we will strive to develop students who are happy, informed, and self-sufficient individuals who take interest in the greater good.  Together we will encourage children to develop their character, to pursue their passions, to seize opportunities, and to persevere in achieving their goals, in a way that will positively impact the world around them.  

Each and every day, I approach this work with a heart full of gratitude and joy for the opportunity I have to show up for my students, my colleagues, and my community.  I am tremendously proud of the Dater team of educator’s commitment and care for each student served.  I greatly value the home-school connection that is facilitated school-wide through the PTO and in a personal way through the regular communications between our school and each family.
