On Wednesday and Thursday, the 4th graders at Dater went on an exciting field trip to the Montclair Art Museum, where they had the chance to explore a wide variety of artworks. The students were led by a museum docent through galleries filled with colorful paintings, sculptures, and interactive exhibits, including the newly opened Native American exhibit.
They learned about famous artists and different art techniques, and even got to try their hand at creating their own art in a special hands-on activity at the museums Yard School of Art! The trip sparked curiosity and creativity in the students, allowing them to see the world of art in a whole new way. It was a fun and educational experience that helped bring the classroom lessons to life!

The students of 4Guarnieri had an enriching experience during the Picturing America Art Appreciation Program, which aims to inspire a deep appreciation for art and foster an understanding of diverse artistic mediums and American art history! As part of the program, students explored the significance of quilts from the 19th and 20th centuries, diving into their cultural and historical importance. Following this, they had the opportunity to create their own quilt designs, each reflecting their own stories! Thank you to Mrs. Owen for her generous support in leading this presentation!
