Today is World Down Syndrome Day!
We recognize this day as a global awareness day that is celebrated on the 21st day of the 3rd month of the year. This is to signify the triplication (trimosy) of the 21st chromosome, which causes Down syndrome. 🐏 ❤

And that's a wrap on this year's Yoga Club with Ms. Azouri and Ms. Guarnieri! It was pure joy watching these sturdy "trees" stand tall together one last time as we enjoyed our last session together! ✨🌳

Don't miss out, Dater students—grab a bagel or fruit cup and help us spread the love with our Bagels for Bolivia fundraiser! Every bite helps us “raise the dough” to buy school supplies for the children of Andrea’s Home. A hole lot of thanks to B&G Bagels for their amazing support! 🥯💛💙
Deadline: Scan the QR code, fill out the form, and send in your cash by THIS FRIDAY, 3/20!

5Gesualdo/Thomson investigated the science behind kinetic sand!

Rehearsals with the entire Dater band are in full swing. Students are learning to watch the conductor and play as an ensemble. 🎼🎶🥁🎺🎷🪈

Students in 5Davidson are getting ready for their TED Talks by practicing with peers and in front of the class. All their hard work is really showing!

Students are working hard in Ms. Gulino's class. 📚🙇♀️🙇♂️

¡Corre en círculos ! 🏃🏻♀️4th graders use clues to "run in circles" around the room and complete their scavenger hunt. Each clue leads them to a new paper, where they translate their greetings and farewells into Spanish.

Students in 4 O'Rourke worked together to sort through sentence strips, carefully thinking about grammar rules as they organized the words to create clear and correct sentences

Read Across America was an absolute blast at Dater! Our teachers disguised their identities—but they couldn’t hide their love for reading. 💕📚 A huge thank you to the high school readers who came to share stories with our students. What a fun and memorable week celebrating books together!

Students in 5Johnstone sharpened their active listening and participation skills while enjoying a special read aloud from our Ramsey High School student reader during Read Across America week! 📖⭐️

After exploring, researching, and building a model of the human brain, GATE students participate in a "scent blind" taste test. By limiting their sense of smell, students challenge themselves to identify flavors while relying on only a small part of their olfactory system!

4Guarnieri engaged in a "table talk" conversation to collaborate, and deepen their analysis within their historical fiction book clubs! Students chose which big question to respond to, demonstrating accountability for their contributions. Throughout their conversations, they applied critical thinking skills to understand key events and character motivations. They also built upon their peers' ideas using evidence from the text. I am so proud of them!

To celebrate Valentine's Day before break, students in 5Modesto/Azouri & 5Gesualdo/Thomson learned how to use descriptive language and proper grammar to develop thoughtful compliments. Each student wrote a meaningful compliment for every classmate in our Humanities class and also received one in return. Reading the compliments at the end of the activity made us all smile and helped us appreciate our kind and loving classroom community on this special day of love. 💕

Mrs. McGowan's student intern, Ms. Morris, actively engaging the students in the read aloud. 📖

Dater 4th graders explored observational drawing by carefully sketching art tools, color wheels, and pop art–inspired designs. Along the way, they practiced watercolor techniques, focusing on color mixing, brush control, and creative expression. 🎨 🖼️

Students in 5Jezequel interviewed Mrs. Hodge, who actually has lived with an indigenous group of people in the rain forest of Bolivia. This was the final piece of research, with perspective in mind, as students consider the practice of burning in preparation for planting and harvesting. 🪴 🌳
