First graders in Miss Beatty’s class have been experimenting with math manipulatives and creating some amazing designs and structures. These hands on explorations are more than just fun, they are an important part of the CPA model (Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract) which helps students build a strong foundation in problem solving and number sense. Starting with manipulatives allows children to truly understand math concepts before moving on to pictures and symbols.
Hubbard School has character! 🫶🏻This preschooler in Mrs. Dumont's class showed empathy by comforting a friend who was not feeling well, rubbing his back and checking in with care. When his friend returned to school after being sick, he asked if he was feeling better. A beautiful example of empathy in action!
Only 16 days into first grade and Mrs. Spaccavento is already amazed by her students’ hard work and stamina! 📚✨ They are diligently practicing their alphabet sounds and growing their sight word vocabulary each day.

In Kindergarten math, learning about attributes lays the foundation for important problem solving skills students will use later. By exploring buttons, children spark natural curiosity and have fun while learning to sort and classify, use precise math language, and make connections by noticing similarities and differences. Mrs. Linden joined K-Sha for their very first SEL lesson of the year 💙✨ Through the RULER approach from Yale, students are beginning to explore how to recognize, understand, label, express, and regulate their emotions. These lessons give children the tools to build empathy, strengthen relationships, and create a positive classroom community which is an important foundation for a successful year ahead 🌟
