Happy Diwali to our Hindu and Sikh community!

It’s Election Season in Room 130!

As Unit 1 comes to a close, students participate in a mock election to simulate the election process, from the primary all the way to the general election.

Students had the opportunity to propose classroom policies, ranging from homework pass rewards to preferred seating days. They then campaigned and ran in an election to get their policies enacted in our classroom.

Classroom simulations like this are a powerful tool for making learning memorable, helping students experience democratic processes firsthand while building civic knowledge and engagement skills.

The club will be growing some bearded dragon favorites - Bok choy, parsley, mustard and collard greens as well as kale. The best part is, this will take place in the media center ... hydroponically! Stay tuned for next week's name reveal of Smith's new pet!

Señora Stokes’ classes have been studying Spanish-speaking countries and nationalities during Hispanic Heritage Month. They watched a video with Mr. Blacido speaking Spanish about his childhood life in Perú. What a great opportunity for students to hear their physical education teacher speaking in the target language they are learning! 🇵🇪

Mrs. Costanzo's 8th grade ELA classes are hard at work! They are exploring how conflict is created between individuals and society, focusing on how power is shown through the short stories and novels they are reading. They will continue to connect these ideas to their books, their own lives and the world around them. Keep it up! 📚
