Each year, top music students from across Bergen County audition to earn spots in Bergen County Band & Chorus. Two Smith chorus students (Vita and Mackenzie) won their auditions and were accepted into the 2026 Bergen County Chorus! Smith School band students placed second overall in the county. There were 11 band students who won their auditions and were accepted in the 2026 Bergen County Band. The students will be rehearsing together throughout the month and performing in concert on Nov. 22 in Tenafly, NJ.

Smith School's Parent Book Club is seeking new members! This year, our Parent Book Club is reading the same books as our Student Book Club. Our first selection is Drums, Girls & Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonnenblick. Reading the stories our students are reading gives us a window into the ideas, challenges, relationships, and choices they are thinking about. Students in Mrs. Costanzo's 8th grade ELA classes are connecting the dots between the theme of a shared short story and their own novels. As a reading community, students are beginning to make connections across texts they read. Great job! Keep up the hard work!
In Smith's fitness classes with Ms. Occhiuto, students are reviewing the Five Health Related Fitness Components, where they are participating in workouts and determining which components are being used. Some students decided to try dance, yoga, dynamic flexibility warm-ups, weightlifting, ab work, and cardio machines. Keep up the hard work!
Señora Stokes’ 7th grade classes are closing out Hispanic Heritage Month by investigating famous Hispanic people. Their favorite one is Mr. Blacido, who is from Peru! 🇵🇪 🌎
