At tonight’s board meeting, we celebrated the Teachers of the Year across the Ramsey School District. We were so proud to honor Mrs. Burkhardt and Mrs. Chiu, two of Hubbard School’s incredible educators. Hearing from students about what makes these teachers so special was truly the highlight of the evening 🥹💙💛🐏

Realistic fiction writing in second grade means lots of thinking, revising, and trying again. If you look closely, you’ll see edits, crossed-out words, and new ideas added in. Real writers grow their stories over time. That’s the work of real writers. Around here, we celebrate the thinking, revising, and growing just as much as the final story!! 💙💛✏️

Students in Mrs. Frank’s class worked with an interactive fraction number line, placing fractions and thinking about whether they were less than, equal to, or greater than one half. Activities like this help make math concepts visible and meaningful.

The 3Lee class and K Shand buddies came together today for a special time of learning and connection. Our third graders demonstrated their RISE attributes by helping their kindergarten friends with a craft and modeling strong reading habits. They also gave their K buddies the opportunity to practice their own reading skills. What made the moment even more special was realizing that many of these third graders once had Mrs. Shand as their own kindergarten teacher. It was truly a full circle moment. 🤭💙💛

Sweet friendships, smiles, and the hopeful feeling of spring just around the corner!

There was simply not enough space on the grid to capture all of the joy and fun from tonight 🥹. It was so special to see Hubbard alumni, current students, and future students come together for a fun evening hosted by Ms. Megna, Ms. G, and the PTO. Hubbard truly is family. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the event, and a special thank you to our custodians for helping set up for such a memorable night. (P.S. Be on the lookout, as many of these photos and more will also be displayed on the screen in our main entrance!!) 💙💛✨🐏

Our preschool and second grade buddies adopted a tree to name and observe for the rest of the year 🌳 Students will be watching closely to see how their tree changes through the seasons. What changes will we notice? This is a wonderful way to bring science and writing to life through real world observation.

HU first grade writers are hard at work learning how to share their opinions. Students used a “plan it across your fingers” strategy to organize their ideas by stating their opinion, thinking of reasons to support it, and planning how to wrap up their piece. It is wonderful to see our young writers building confidence as they learn how to clearly express their thinking.💭

Nothing like starting March Madness with students across grades learning and having a blast improving their basketball skills during Gym with Ms. G! It is wonderful to see how much they are growing while building confidence and teamwork along the way. 🏀✨ Third graders also incorporated math by adding up their points and showing their work. We love seeing cross curricular learning come to life.

Set sail for the Literati Book Fair! 🏴‍☠️📚 Join us in the Hubbard Library on Monday 3/9 and Tuesday 3/10 from 3:15–4:15, and on Wednesday 3/11 from 5:00–7:30 for Family Night.

Wednesday is also Dress Up Day, so bring in $1 to support the Tommy Strong Foundation and come dressed like a pirate or mermaid! 🧜‍♀️✨

Day 1 of our Set Sail for the Literati Book Fair is underway in the Hubbard Library. 🏴‍☠️📚 Book fairs are a wonderful way to spark excitement about reading and give students the chance to discover new books. The fair will be open Monday and Tuesday from 3:15–4:15, with Wednesday (also our Bingo Night) running from 5–7:30 during Family Night. Students are already excited to browse the shelves and set sail on new reading adventures. We are so thankful for all of the volunteers who helped make this possible and for our amazing Hubbard families who continue to support events like this. 🫶🏻⭐️

A beautiful day like today called for outdoor recess and outdoor learning. Students took their meteorology lesson outside as they explored how meteorologists forecast the weather and learned about cold fronts and warm fronts. Days like this make us excited for the warmer days ahead.

Did you know? This past week was National School Social Work Week. At Hubbard School, we are so grateful for Mrs. Falcone and the care and support she provides to our students each day. Students shared heartfelt messages such as, “Thank you for teaching me to have more RISE characteristics,” and “You helped me when I needed it.” Thank you, Mrs. Falcone, for the difference you make in our school community.
