MARY A. HUBBARD SCHOOL

Collaboration, one of the core competencies of a Profile of a Ramsey Graduate, is practiced and modeled daily by our staff. Our principal, school counselor, instructional coach, and student support specialist meet together to share ideas and strategies that strengthen and support our Hubbard community. As leaders at the forefront of Hubbard School, they help guide the work that keeps our students and staff growing and thriving. Make sure you give them a big hello or even a hug when you see them for all they do to support our school.

Leaves are falling, learning is calling 🍁 Our 3rd graders are diving into the season with wonder and excitement. Every tossed leaf is a reminder that learning can be joyful, playful, and full of discovery.

Writing is a process, and sometimes it can be messy, but that is where the best learning happens. ✏️ In Ms. Lee’s class at Hubbard, one student realized his topic sentence did not match the rest of his paragraph, while another noticed how she could make her introduction stronger. These moments remind us that every draft is a chance to grow as writers. 💙💛

Fun fact: Mrs. Frank once lived in South Korea 🇰🇷! In third grade social studies, students are exploring cultural universals, the ways people around the world share common needs and experiences while expressing them in unique ways. Experiences like this help bridge cultures together, reminding us that while traditions may differ, the values of community and connection unite us all. Stories like this bring our learning to life and deepen our understanding of the world.

There is an ARRAY of learning happening in Mrs. Weiss’s class! ✨ Students are working through the CPA model, moving from concrete manipulatives to pictorial models to abstract equations, building a strong foundation for problem solving and mathematical thinking. Third grade math adds up to success.

Hubbard kicked off the Week of Respect with a magical assembly by Abracabully! 🎩✨ Students learned the power of kindness, confidence, and standing up for others, a perfect way to start a week focused on respect and empathy. 💙💛

Learning is always better with a little help and a lot of heart. 💙 Mrs. Murphy is right there alongside her students, guiding, encouraging, and celebrating every success in second grade.

Mrs. Royle’s second graders are diving into word study 📝✨ Students explored syllabication and discovered that every syllable has a vowel. Some even checked their mouth drop to see how many syllables they could hear, a fun and powerful way to grow as readers and writers.

The first Friday of the month is always so special at Hubbard. Nothing is better than coming together as a community where our Rams RISE with Respect, Independence, Self Control, and Empathy. 😎

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, students in art with Ms. Megna are learning about the life and work of Frida Kahlo 🎨. Through her bold self portraits and powerful use of color, Kahlo showed the world how art can express identity, culture, and emotion. Inspired by her legacy, our students are creating their own art that honors creativity and self expression while deepening their appreciation of Hispanic heritage.

The first Wednesday of October is celebrated nationwide as National Walk to School Day. It is part of the larger Walk to School Wednesday program that encourages safe routes, active lifestyles, and the joy of starting the day with movement. Step by step, our community shines. A huge thank you to the Ramsey Police Department for keeping our walkers safe and to ShopRite for providing apples for everyone to enjoy at the finish. Thank you to Ms. G for leading, to all the teachers who participated, and to the families who helped make today a walking success.

🌍 In Mrs. Finnegan’s class, students expand their horizons each day by learning a new word in Chinese from a native speaking classmate. This daily routine is more than just building vocabulary, it reminds us that everyone has something to teach and something to learn. By sharing language, students grow in curiosity, empathy, and cultural awareness, strengthening not only their knowledge but also their connections with one another. ✨📖
