A huge shout out to Ramsey PD for presenting to our Smith students today! Students were able to learn about the new e-bike and e-scooter regulations and ask questions about where they can and can't ride throughout town.
Smith's 7th grade math students took their creativity (and math skills!) to the next level! They designed a store of their own and then "shopped" where they found the sales tax and product discounts of what they "bought."
This past weekend, the Smith Esports Team wrapped up another strong season in the Garden State Esports League. Both the Rocket League and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (SSBU) squads finished second in their divisions. Although both squads fell in the quarterfinals, the SSBU team qualified for the state playoffs for the fourth consecutive season, and Rocket League for the second straight year. Great job - we look forward to what you can do in the Spring!
Ramsey's Robotics teams - The Ramsey Ramblers and The Dusters - had a huge weekend at the FTC Northern League Event, which Smith School hosted on Saturday. Both high school teams jumped their ranks going undefeated on the day with the exception of one round where they had to face each other. But, the biggest achievement was The Ramsey Ramblers' robot driven by Owen K., Gabe E., Sarah B. and Angelina B., who broke a state record in points scored, and then two rounds later scored more points and set a world season record with 260 points scored! Our other team run by Vincent K., Andrew F., Daniela L., and Zelig M. were incredible! They jumped their league rank from 16th to 4th. We could not be more proud of everyone's accomplishments!
This past weekend 11 Smith School band students performed with the Bergen County Band. They presented a magnificent concert to a packed house at Ramsey High School on Sunday. Congratulations to our talented musicians!
