RHS Mock Trial

What's happening:
The Ramsey High School Mock Trial team notched a significant win in the Bergen County competition on Monday, Feb. 2, defeating New Milford in a high-stakes courtroom simulation.

The Case: The defense team successfully cleared their client, Devon Ransom, of a charge of raising a false public alarmβ€”more commonly known as "swatting."

The Stars of the Courtroom: Success relied on a blend of sharp legal maneuvering and disciplined testimony:

  • The Legal Team: Lead attorneys Justin DiPilato and Marissa Stinelli anchored the defense with a cohesive strategy.

  • The Witnesses: Elizabeth Clare, Sofia Rodriguez, and Leila Ramsarran were credited for maintaining their poise during aggressive cross-examinations by the prosecution.

Why it matters: Mock Trial is a rigorous exercise in critical thinking and public speaking. Students must master complex legal statutes and think on their feet, mirroring the pressures of a real-world legal environment.

Well done, Rams!
