What's happening: Congratulations to RHS Senior Francesca Muia, who has earned her Eagle award as a member of Scouts BSA Troop 86.
Historically, only four percent of those who join Scouting ever earn their Eagle, which requires one to earn 21 merit badges and complete a challenging final project. For her Eagle project, Francesca designed and constructed a Fallen Comrade Table at the Veterans Park across from the tennis courts.
The Fallen Comrade Table is a ceremonial display used by the U.S. military to honor and remember fallen, missing, or imprisoned service members. It is often set up at military dining events, Memorial Day or Veterans Day ceremonies, and other commemorations.
What theyβre saying: βI constructed a pergola and laid pavers around the table to create a respectful space for reflection. I also cleaned and re-planted flowers around the nearby fountain area to help beautify the park and tie the memorial together. It was a really meaningful experience and a great way to give back to our veterans and community.β -Francesca Muia.
With this highest award in Scouting, Francesca now stands alongside such famed Eagle Scouts as Astronaut Neil Armstrong, director Steven Spielberg, President Gerald Ford, and Olympic Gold medalist, NBA champ, Rhodes scholar, and US Senator Bill Bradley.
