The Ramsey girls cross country team won its first league championship since 2014 with a 29-49 win over reigning champions Westwood.
Kaylee Finnegan shines at Darlington: Running the fastest 5,000-meter race of the season, Kaylee Finnegan led the Rams, winning the race by 300 meters.
Finnegan, a junior, became the Rams' first individual girl winner since the Big North's formation in 2011.
What theyโre saying: "I'm really happy with how all the girls ran today,'' said Ramsey coach Ken Schmarge. "They had the next man up mentality and came through in a big, big meet. Kaylee is phenomenal. She trains harder than anyone that I can remember. She puts in her summer miles and works hard in the weight room and is so focused on getting better.''
Ramsey's strategic depth: Isabella Marinaccio, the third-place finisher, and other Rams placed strategically between 6th and 15th positions to clinch the victory.
What's next: Ramsey faces a tough state sectional with teams like Leonia and West Milford, but they are ready for championship season.
Letโs go Rams! ๐
