5th graders shine: Students at Dater School presented TED Talks to their peers, 4th-grade buddies, parents, and staff. In a TED Talk, students share stories, research, insights, and lessons with a captivated audience.
Why it matters: This Profile Project is a testament to the skills developed by our 5th-grade Rams as they confidently share “ideas worth spreading.”
What is a Profile Project? These projects are our way of giving students opportunities to demonstrate our Profile of a Ramsey Graduate competencies. To deliver a great TED Talk, students showed strong critical thinking, creativity, communication, and academic mindset!
What they’re saying: Students were as proud of their hard work as their teachers and parents were:
“I am proud because I got the courage to get on the stage. I liked my topic and embraced the challenge.”
“I am most proud of presenting a topic I cared about. Public speaking doesn’t come naturally to me.”
The bottom line: Thanks to the collective effort of educators and support from home, our students believed in themselves and inspired others with their presentations. This is one of the aspects of our district that set us apart - we are crystal clear on what skills we want our eventual graduates to master, and then we plan for them to practice along the way!
What’s next: Students in Grades 3, 8, and 12 will be completing their Profile Projects later this spring.
