Attendance Office

Overview
Regular and timely school attendance is vital for meeting high academic standards. To promote attendance and punctuality, we have implemented the following policies and procedures:

  • All students are expected to attend regularly for academic success.

  • Arrival time is 7:55 a.m. daily.

  • Please click under Important Links for the District's Attendance Policy.

Reporting An Absence

Please report all student absences to the attendance office no later than 7:55am daily.

  • The direct telephone number is 201-785-2341.  Voice mail messages may be left 24 hours per day/7 days per week.

  • Please state student name, grade, and reason for the absence.

Electronic communication of absences is also acceptable.

  • You may email absences to RHS Attendance Office by 7:55 on the day your child will be absent.

  • Please include student name and grade in the subject line.

  • In the body of the email please include the reason for the absence and the parent contact number.

Submitting doctor's notes for absences will excuse the absence.

  • Doctor's notes must have the original signature and stamp to be valid.

  • Be sure to list the student's name on the doctor's note along with the appropriate dates of absences.

  • Complete this Absence Form and attach the doctor's note to this form.

  • Submit to the attendance office within 5 days of your child's absence.

Early Dismissal Procedures

  • A request for an early dismissal from a regularly assigned class is to be presented in writing to the attendance office no later than 7:55 a.m.

  • Please email this Dismissal Form to the Attendance Office at rhsattendance@ramsey.k12.nj.us.

Early dismissal requests must include:

  • Student’s name and grade

  • Parent's home, cellular, or business telephone number

  • Name of parent/guardian who will take the student off school grounds

  • Reason for the request

  • Parent signature and date

Students following this process will be given an early dismissal pass from the attendance office.

  • Your child will meet you outside of the school, it is not necessary for you to come into the building.

  • Requests for early dismissal will be verified by telephone if an early dismissal form is not presented to the attendance office.

  • If the parent cannot be contacted, the early dismissal will not be approved.

In the event that a student forgets to bring an early dismissal form to the attendance office in the am, an email communication will suffice.

  • Please include the student's name and grade in the subject line.

  • The body of the email must include the reason for the early dismissal, the time of the early dismissal, (dismissal must be in between classes, not during a class) and a parent contact number.

  • You may access class schedules under the attendance office tab, Important Links, then bell schedules, to ensure the time of dismissal is in between classes.
