autism

In April we observe Autism Acceptance, a month started by the Autism Society in the 1970s to expand advocacy, education, services, and support for individuals with autism, their families, and their communities.

  • In the United States, 1 child in every 44 is diagnosed with autism.

  • More than 5.4 million adults present with autism, too.

The big picture: Ramsey’s recognition of Autism Acceptance promotes understanding and acceptance, laying the foundation for a community where everyone feels valued and included. This recognition can also promote inclusive practices across schools, workplaces, and public spaces, ensuring individuals with autism are supported and celebrated.

💙 If you’re seeing blue this month: The iconic tradition of lighting up landmarks and buildings in blue symbolizes support for those with autism. It's a visual call for understanding and acceptance.
