What's Happening: Our second and third grade students recently participated in our annual Poetry Cafe, a cherished tradition that celebrates creativity, self-expression, and a love of writing. Students explored poetry as a unique literary genre, learning about different types of poems and the techniques poets use to convey ideas, emotions, and experiences.

The Big Picture: The Poetry Cafe provided students with an opportunity to showcase their original work in a welcoming and supportive environment. As young authors, they used their voices to write about topics that were meaningful to them, sharing what was in their hearts through thoughtful and imaginative poetry.

Why It Matters: The Poetry Cafe fosters a sense of community by giving students an authentic audience for their work. By celebrating each student's unique voice, we help cultivate a love of literacy while encouraging creativity, self-reflection, and personal growth. We are incredibly proud of our young poets for their courage, creativity, and willingness to share their work with others!
