club

This year, our Parent Book Club is reading the same books as our Student Book Club. Our first selection is Drums, Girls & Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonnenblick.

Why it matters: Middle school books arenโ€™t just for middle schoolers! Reading the stories our students are reading gives us a window into the ideas, challenges, relationships, and choices they are thinking about. More importantly, a shared book can create an easy opening for conversations that might not happen otherwise. Shared reading experiences can also build community while giving readers opportunities to think about characters and situations from different perspectives.

The big picture: When the adults in our studentsโ€™ lives read alongside them, we send an important message: reading matters beyond the classroom. We also gain another way to better understand our studentsโ€™ world, connect with one another, and talk about some pretty meaningful topics along the way.

Join us for our first discussion!
