Robotics COmp at Smith

What's happening: Smith Middle School achieved a remarkable feat last weekend by hosting a prestigious robotics competition for the second year in a row. What’s more, Ramsey teams rocked in their home arena!

  • Both high school teams jumped their ranks going undefeated on the day with the exception of one round where they had to face each other. The result: new league rankings of 3rd and 4th place. 🏆

  • Team 10243 The Ramsey Ramblers robot driven by Owen Kozar, Gabe Estrada, Sarah Benfanti and Angelina Barone broke a state record in points scored. Two rounds later scored more points and set a world record with 260 points scored.

  • Another team run by Vincent Kozlik, Andrew Feuss, Daniela Lam and Zelig Meshel did so well on the day that they jumped their league rank from 16th to 4th. 🚀

The bottom line: The highly anticipated competition kicked off on Saturday morning, drawing a crowd of enthusiastic spectators and participants. A second, intense round of matches followed later in the afternoon.

The big picture: I can’t wait for the RAM (Robotics, Auto, Makerspace) Center at the high school campus to be complete and serve as the new home for our rising robotics program!

🎉 Congratulations to all!
