Memorial Day

Monday, May 26th is Memorial Day

Memorial Day is an American holiday recognized on the last Monday of May.

Did you know: Memorial Day originally began after the Civil War as ‘Decoration Day’, when people decorated the graves of fallen soldiers with flowers. It evolved into Memorial Day after World War I, to honor all those who died in service to the nation.

Why it matters: Memorial Day is a time to remember and honor the fallen service members of the U.S. military. It's a time for reflection and gratitude for the men and women who have given their lives for our country.

What's Next: Grade 8 students will have an opportunity to pay homage to fallen service members from Ramsey when they visit Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC next month
