Although February has passed, the impact of Mrs. Murphy’s 2nd grade Valentine project continues to be felt. Earlier this winter, students celebrated Valentine’s Day in a meaningful way by connecting social studies, writing, and character education through a nationwide exchange of kindness. As they learned about different regions across the United States, students put their writing skills into action by creating heartfelt Valentine cards for children in other states.
Through this special project, students practiced friendly letter writing while exploring geography and culture. More importantly, they demonstrated what it means to live out our RISE values each day. By showing respect, including others through thoughtful messages, and taking pride in representing Hubbard and the Ramsey community, students experienced how their words can make a positive impact. By sending and receiving kind notes, Mrs. Murphy’s class discovered that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
