Why it matters: Experiences like Take Your Child to Work Day help students see learning beyond the classroomβbuilding connections, confidence, and a sense of community.
The big picture: We were thrilled to welcome a large number of staff membersβ children into our school for the day. It was a joy to watch them engage with Dater studentsβsharing classrooms, participating in activities, and becoming part of the school community, even if just for a day.
What stood out: A special highlight was the natural mentorship that took place across grade levels. Our 4th and 5th graders stepped into leadership roles, guiding and supporting younger visitors, while older students modeled responsibility and kindness as mentors to them. The result was a meaningful chain of connection, learning, and leadership.
The benefits: Days like this foster social-emotional growth, encourage leadership, and strengthen our school community. They also give visiting children a positive glimpse into the school environmentβmaking learning feel welcoming, engaging, and fun.
