Dater School recently hosted a successful Book Swap event, an initiative brought to life by the creative idea of two 5th grade students, Lucy and Claire.
Big impact: The event created a vibrant atmosphere of sharing and excitement around reading, as students eagerly browsed the diverse collection and selected multiple books to take home. This initiative not only promoted literacy but also ensured that every child left with new reading material to enjoy over the summer, helping to keep their love of books alive during the break.
By the numbers: Over 1,700 books were donated to the Book Swap event!!
What’s next: The homerooms that contributed the most books for the event earned a well-deserved reward—a fun-filled kickball game! These celebratory games will take place over the next few weeks, giving students a chance to enjoy some friendly competition and outdoor fun in recognition of their generosity.
