SNAP Benefit Delalys

Dear Ramsey School District Families and Staff,

I am writing to address the concerns regarding the ongoing federal government shutdown and the resulting delay or suspension of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits. We understand the significant financial and emotional strain this places on many of our families.

To ensure immediate, local support is available, I have been in direct conversation with Harris Recht, President of Ramsey Responds, to coordinate an accelerated initiative for our community. Our goal is to ensure that no Ramsey student or family goes without essential needs during this uncertain time.

🀝 Immediate and Confidential Assistance is Available

I am proud to confirm that Ramsey Responds, a dedicated, volunteer non-profit organization that has served Ramsey for over 20 years, is fully prepared to assist. Our school district is relying on this vital partnership to bridge the gap created by the interruptions in these federal programs.

  • Important Note: Our school lunch program is unaffected by the shutdown, and students who received free or reduced lunch (and breakfast) will continue to do so when school resumes on November 10.

Ramsey Responds is available now to confidentially assist any Ramsey students or their families who are facing critical needs, particularly those impacted by the SNAP delays. Their confidential services include support with:

  • 🍎 Food and Clothing

  • 🏠 Critical Financial Needs (help with rent, mortgage, utilities, or other essential payments)
