Smith NPFH

What's happening: Ramsey School District is excited to announce the recent designation earned by Eric S. Smith Middle School as a No Place for Hate school.

Why it matters: This designation was the result of collaborative contribution of many, to increase the level of empathy among Smith School students.

Go deeper: The path to earning this designation was lined with the efforts of many. Smith Middle School fostered inclusivity by:

  • District Inclusion & Belonging Committee explored ways to create a warmer learning environment for diverse students

  • The Smith community embraced the No Place for Hate pledge, encouraging welcoming and friendly interactions

  • Administration thoughtfully considered how to meaningfully connect with students

  • Three empathy-centered lessons were shared by Counseling, PE, and Social Studies throughout the year.

The bottom line: Ultimately, the No Place for Hate designation was a team effort and one that all of our Learning Community stakeholders can be extremely proud of for years to come. We will continue our work to ensure all students feel welcome and at home at Smith Middle School and across the District.
