The RAMSEY SCHOOL DISTRICT seeks a dynamic and exceptional leader to become its next Superintendent.

Located in Bergen County, northern New Jersey, the Borough of Ramsey has a population of more than 14,000 people and is just 20 miles from culture-rich New York City. Our Pre-K - Grade 12 District enrolls about 2,500 diverse students in five schools from Ramsey and the neighboring Saddle River community. Our challenging curriculum goes beyond traditional academics and relies on Teaching for Understanding as a guiding principle. Decisions are driven by the competencies that make up our Profile of a Ramsey Graduate, and students in grades 3, 5, 8, and 12 complete Profile Projects that challenge them to apply what they have learned. 

Ramsey’s next Superintendent of Schools will exhibit strong leadership skills, proven collaboration with staff, and experience in community engagement. The Superintendent will regularly interact with multiple stakeholders who contribute to our District’s success. Ramsey residents demonstrate ongoing support for their schools, most clearly by passing a bond referendum and budget increases in 2018 and 2019. Those measures bolstered our science, performing arts, and fitness offerings, as well as expanded our kindergarten to a full-day program. The next Superintendent will build on those accomplishments and will use strong communication skills, a commitment to innovation, and a student-centered outlook to continue advancing Ramsey schools.

Prior experience as a district-level administrator is preferred. Additional desired characteristics, derived from staff and community surveys, make up a profile of the successful candidate. All candidates must possess a New Jersey Department of Education School Administrator certificate. The final candidate will be offered a competitive salary package commensurate with experience and state guidelines.
