Our Vision is Not Canceled (DECA & Art)

Our Vision is Not Canceled

As we like to say, "Our Vision is Not Cancelled" due to the difficulties of hybrid and remote learning.  Our teachers and students continue to do amazing work in and out of the classroom.  As evidence of this, just recently we had many students excel in DECA competitions while other students had their art selected for display at upcoming county and state exhibitions.  Please read more about these achievements below.

DECA

DECA is an international organization that has approximately 225,000 members. According to deca.org, “DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, management in high schools and colleges around the globe.”

Here at Ramsey High School, DECA began this year with approximately 85 members led by advisors Pam Carloni and Angela Trovato. Students can participate in individual or group events that range from “Entrepreneurship Team Decision Making” to “Hospitality and Tourism Operations Research.” In Ramsey High School, Marketing I students have the opportunity to write a 10-page integrated marketing campaign for a product, service, or event. Papers are chosen from this pool to compete at DECA. In Marketing II, students have the opportunity to partner with a local business to write a 20-page business operations research paper. They conduct market research using primary and secondary sources. This year, all interested students were able to submit their papers to compete at DECA.

53 of our students qualified to compete at SCDC, to the State Career Development Conference (SCDC), and 11 qualified for ICDC, the International Career Development Conference. The ICDC will be virtual this year. Advisors, Pam Carloni and Angela Trovato, are proud of all of their DECA students. They believe that students in DECA have been able to grow in their Profile of a Ramsey Graduate competencies. Specifically, they have seen student growth in adaptability, self direction, and communication.

Congratulations to our National DECA Qualifiers!
