  • Veterans Day 2021

    The last nineteen-plus months have been challenging for all of us. We are proud to share that the High School's first all-school assembly took place on November 12 to commemorate Veterans Day. Representatives from the History Club spoke about the history of Veterans Day, distinctions between Veterans Day and Memorial Day, how best to commemorate Veterans Day, and a poem was read. Ramsey VFW representatives Joe Barnes (RHS ‘59) and John Rigg (RHS ‘89) were present, recognized, and provided a reflection. Click headline fore more.

  • Evolving Smith School to Enhance the Student Experience

    The video presentation to the Board of Education on November 23 highlighted some of the ways that Smith School has been evolving to enhance the student experience. These improvements include the addition of a new music wing, the renovation of all science labs, and an improved grade-level team structure.

  • Parent Academy - Dec. 1 - Mind of the Athlete

    Ramsey School District is partnering with Dr. Jarrod Spencer from Mind of an Athlete, to work with our high school coaches on mental health and sports psychology. The Mind of the Athlete is dedicated to improving the emotional health and performance of athletes by focusing on how the mind works best allowing our student-athletes to compete at their fullest mental capability in academics and athletics.   • Thanksgiving Message

    Does your family play that game in which everyone at the table takes turns saying what they’re thankful for? If not, it’s a great tradition to add. With 2021 filled with “could have beens,” we could all benefit by reflecting on the “wins.” In Ramsey, we have had many successes in our classrooms and on different forms of “stages” where our students and staff demonstrated their skills.   • Parent Academy - Wed. Nov. 10th - Suicide Prevention

    Join us: November 10 - Carli Bushoven Carli Bushoven, Executive Director for the Madison Holleran Foundation, has been sharing Madison’s story at schools, universities, corporate events, and more all over the US. Carli tragically lost her younger sister, Madison Holleran (Allendale, NJ resident), to suicide on January 17, 2014, which was just two weeks after Carli’s first child was born. Beautiful, athletic, kind, and smart, Madison was thought by many to have “had it all.” Her death came as a shock to not only her family, but her friends, community, and people across the country – and became the catalyst for the NYTimes bestselling book “What Made Maddy Run?“ by Kate Fagan.

  • Annual Assessment Report

    At the October 26th Board of Education meeting, Dr. Matteo made a comprehensive presentation about standardized testing in the district. As required by state statute, the District is required to provide a trend and comparative analysis including reporting disaggregated data by subgroups which includes state-defined categories such as race, gender, economically disadvantaged, and special education.     Our district-wide approach to curriculum design was recently the focus of a published blog on the Eduplanet21 website.   • RHS Awarded Grant for Youth Mental Health First Aid Training

    We are proud to announce that Ramsey High School was recently awarded a grant by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing to bring teen Mental Health First Aid (tMHFA) training to the school. Mr. Esdale (Supervisor of 9-12 Education and Student Welfare) and Mr. Sabella (Supervisor of Wellness) completed the application and will oversee the training program at the high school.     In Ramsey, our teachers are consistently working towards building mathematical fluency and number sense. Throughout their educational journey, students begin learning counting in Kindergarten and build upon the concept to develop their understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division throughout their K-5 education.   • National-Level Shout-Out for Ramsey's Vision

    A guru in the field of education took notice of Ramsey School District’s innovative approach to preparing students for the future. That Twitter post came from Jay McTighe, an author and speaker with years of experience in the development of student performance measures. He gets the importance of regular assessments, and also recognizes that scan-dependent testing can boil out the flavor of a student’s truly comprehensive education. This shout-out made our staff so proud!

  • Inclusion Lives Here

    At Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting, there was a moving presentation that focused on how Ramsey High School continues to promote a more inclusive learning environment for all students through extracurricular activities and clubs such as Best Buddies and Special Olympics. Ramsey High School established a Best Buddies Chapter in 2019 and starting this fall, Special Olympics is now an official club at the school. Click headline for more.
