    Philosophy

The Ramsey tennis team is very proud of their tradition of excellence.

    We promote:

    • Team first – through cooperation, loyalty and spirit
    • Sportsmanship, fair play and respect for opponents, officials and coaches
    • Develop the self-confidence and self-respect of each team member.
    • Proper tennis etiquette for practices and matches
    • Competition and participation with 100% effort, 100% of the time
    • Development of self-confidence and respect towards team members
    • Development of skills and talents of all players

The high school athletic experience is about personal growth anddevelopment. Being a part of a team and contributing to help the team succeed is a goal we strive for. A team promotes accountability, maturity, communication, respect, dealing with failures and successes and handling emotions in a mature manner.

    Practice Information

Practices begin on Friday, March 2nd. All players are expected to be at practice every day. We will begin promptly at 3:00 pm. You will not be allowed to practice until all forms have been submitted.

You must submit an updated Physical Exam or Health Update to Mrs. Nemeth the school nurse prior to Feb. 23rd. All other forms which include: Steroid Testing Policy, the Drug and Alcohol Policy, Concussion Form, Coach Emergency Contact Form and the Permission to Participate form are to be completed and submitted on-line (as seen in the link above title Athletic Physical Forms). Failure to attend practice may result in your inability to play in challenge matches and/or earn a ladder position on the Varsity or JV team. There will be some Saturday practices in March and April. Reductions may be made depending on the number of participants trying out for the team.

    Procedures

Varsity players are required to attend practices and games during spring break, the week of April 2nd – 6th.  JV has no scheduled matches.

Varsity players are required to participate in the County Tournament – April 28th–29th.

All players must participate in a minimum of 6 practices before playing an interscholastic match.

Schoolwork is a priority. If you need to stay after school for extra help, please let Mrs. Hasslinger know before the end of the day. You will be expected to come to practice at the conclusion of getting extra help, please bring a pass from your teacher.

Do not schedule doctor, dentist or other appointments during practice time - they will not be considered an excused absence unless it is an emergency.

If you miss practice the day before a match with an unexcused absence, you will not be allowed to play in that match.

For each match missed, without a valid excuse, you will have to sit out the same amount of matches.

A player must participate in 50% of varsity matches to earn a varsity letter for the season. It is up to the discretion of the coaches.

On days of inclement weather, we will have indoor practice. Information will be sent through Remind.

Please contact us if you are out sick or unable to attend practice or matches.
