The philosophy of the music department is to provide a quality program which serves as an outlet for creativity and self-expression. The study of music should provide the students with an understanding of the aesthetics in conjunction with the mechanics of music. With an aesthetic understanding, students learn to appreciate their performances thereby stimulating interest promoting further study and musical growth. Through the study of a repertory encompassing a wide spectrum of musical genres, the student is acquainted with other cultures and better understands the nature of man and his relationship with his environment.
Both the instrumental and choral programs offer a wide range of curricular and co-curricular performance ensembles including Chorus, The Ramsey Singers, The Ram Jams, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Big Blue Marching Band, Jazz Band, Winter Guard, and Percussion Ensemble. Course are also offered in Music Theory and Digital Music Production. For more information on specfic offerrings and ensembles in the music department, please visit the faculty pages.
