DISTRICT VISUAL ART SHOW - MAY 9th & 10TH
The Ramsey Public Schools district-wide Visual Arts Show will take place on Tuesday May 9th and Wednesday May 10th. Select art works from students in all five schools in the district will be on display in the Mitchell Gym at Ramsey High School and will be open to the public from 6:30 – 8:30 PM on May 9th and from 6:30 – 8:00 PM on May 10th. In addition, works will be featured of seniors at Ramsey High School who plan on majoring in art.
In conjunction with the Art Show, students from Ramsey High School’s Advanced Ceramics and Sculpture class have created beautiful ceramic bowls that will be on sale during the show. Each bowl is $20 and all proceeds will be donated to Action Against Hunger, an international humanitarian group dedicated to addressing areas of severe malnutrition. The bowls created by the students were inspired by the Empty Bowls Project, which is an international grassroots effort to raise both money and awareness in the fight to end hunger. The project allows the students to use their artistic skills and creativity to help others through a social justice campaign.
At the same time as the Art Show, several Ramsey High School students will be presenting on their "Vision 2020" experiences from this school year in RHS Room 119, adjacent to the art show. Vision 2020 represents the transformative effort at Ramsey High School which will give all students the chance to pursue authentic, passion based work and perform on the "big stage." Selected students will share reflections on their authentic experiences and what they have learned from them as they prepare for life after Ramsey High School. In addition, Dr. Thumm will present an update on the Vision 2020, what we have accomplished and where we are going.
