PHILOSOPHY
The English Department seeks to transmit important aspects of culture, to teach the skills of communication, and to reinforce the spiral language skills curriculum so that students may be literate and fluent. It also seeks to help students think perceptively, develop discriminating taste, and acquire sound judgment so they may achieve personal fulfillment and communicate effectively in a complex society. The goal is for all students to respond intelligently to change
and to make constructive contributions to society.
