Elementary and Middle School students who live beyond two miles (shortest route) from the school which they attend are eligible for busing. High School students who live beyond two and one-half miles (shortest route) from the school are eligible for busing.
Before a student qualifies for busing, New Jersey State Code mandates accurate determination of the door-to-door distance the student must walk. Persons with concerns regarding busing from a specific address should call the Ramsey Board of Education for busing confirmation. It cannot be assumed that transportation will be provided without confirmation from a representative of the Ramsey Public Schools. The Ramsey Board of Education does not provide courtesy busing.

K-3
HubbardSchool (on Wyckoff Ave.) and Tisdale School (on North Island Avenue) are the two K-3 schools. All students living to the east (Rt. 17 side) of the railroad attend grades K-3 at Tisdale School. There is also a region on the west side of the railroad which attends Tisdale. That region is located above Smith School and includes such streets as Mohawk Dr., Park St., Davidson Ave., Indian Valley Rd., High St., Elbert Ct., and Swan St., etc. (The enclosed map identifies this area more clearly.) There are four streets that are split, with part of the street attending Hubbard School and part attending Tisdale School. Those streets are Myrtle Ave., Elbert St., North Central Ave., and Davidson Ave. The enclosed map helps define the boundary line for the Tisdale region on the west side of the railroad. On Myrtle, houses with numbers up to 108 (even) and 123 (odd) attend Tisdale. On Elbert St., all houses north of Smith School (295 up and 300 up) attend Tisdale. On North Central, the division occurs at the power lines (350 and 351 on up). Finally, all of Davidson above the power lines (239 on up) attend Tisdale School. With the exception of the region just described (and shown on the enclosed map), all other students on the west side of the railroad attend Hubbard School for grades K-3. Students who live beyond the two-mile radius, as per official measurement, qualify for busing to Hubbard School. There are only a few houses that qualify for busing to Hubbard School. The busing region for Tisdale includes those addresses which exceed the two-mile radius as per official measurement. .
Grades 4-5 Dater School, the 4-5 building, is located on School Street off of North Central Ave. in the central portion of Ramsey. Every 4th and 5th grade student in Ramsey attends Dater School. There are virtually no houses that qualify for busing to Dater School.
Grades 6-8 After completing 5th grade, all students progress to Smith Middle School on Monroe St. The measured two-mile busing radius, once again, serves to determine which students qualify for busing.
Grades 9-12 Ramsey High School serves all students in grades 9-12. The busing radius becomes 2 1/2 miles as per state guidelines. Anyone considering moving into Ramsey and having questions regarding measurements and busing is strongly encouraged to call the Ramsey Board of Education Office for further information.
