Dear Members of the Ramsey School Community:

Welcome to Ramsey and the Ramsey Public Schools. Ramsey is a suburban community of 14,600 residents, located twenty miles northwest of New York City. Our school system has a well-earned reputation for excellence and has garnered recognition at the county, state and national levels. Ramsey's 3,020 students are educated in two K-3 schools, one 4-5 upper elementary school, a middle school for grades 6-8 and a 9-12 high school. In addition to serving the residents of Ramsey, the District educates the students of Saddle River in grades 6-12 through a send-receive relationship.

Ramsey is a community where the town officials work cooperatively with the school district for the benefit of young people. A community that is supportive of its schools yet holds those schools to high standards. Ramsey is a community that, through its schools and through its community-based programs, offers its young children and teens a wealth of opportunities to grow and flourish.  The Ramsey Schools are a partnership between residents, parents, teachers, administrators, and students. The school-family works together to provide a successful learning experience for all students. Administrators and teachers consistently work to update district curriculum and develop programs to remain on the cutting edge of educational issues.  The current 21st Century Learning Initiative and the Middle School/High School i-Pad Initiative are both good examples of this.  Staff Development and support is extensive and on-going throughout the school year. Our schools have strong and supportive parent associations and an active Education Foundation that enhance the mission of our district. The relationship between the schools and municipal government is excellent and lends to the overall sense that Ramsey is a great place to live and work.

The District now offers an informative and comprehensive website, an on-line student progress portal, and electronic newsletters for communicating with both parents and the community at large.

In the pages of this folder, you will learn a lot more about our schools.  Additional information can be found on our website (http://www.ramsey.k12.nj.us) or by calling us at (201) 785-2300.  We look forward to serving you.
