The English Department operates a computer-equipped Writing Center, open and staffed by an English teacher during the lunch period every day. If lunch period doesn't work, you can set up an appointment with the Writing Center teacher during a study hall.
In the Center, you will be able to confer with the teacher in order to revise drafts of class assignments, work on special projects, such as college essays and research projects, or develop and build your writing portfolio.
In addition to writing conferences, the Writing Center has several new features. We will be hosting workshops on a variety of topics, e.g. the college essay, making money from writing, careers in writing, writing for the HSPA, etc. We have also created a blog channel for you to sound off on what interests you. Click on “Writers' Blog” for instructions. Start blogging! Finally, we will be working with you on using Web 2.0 tools, such as blogs, podcasts, animations, glogs, etc. to put into your writing projects.
