Welcome to 2nd Grade!

2nd Grade is a year full of exciting growth and learning!  I am thrilled that your child is in my class and I am excited for a wonderful school year!  I know that we are going to have a successful year together!

Discipline, Consequences & Rewards

I expect my students to behave appropriately, obey the classroom rules and complete all of their class work and homework assignments.  I created an incentive plan in order to maintain a well structured classroom.

Individual Incentives ~

Throughout the day each student will be able to earn Gold Slips.  The students can earn Gold Slips for many reasons, such as walking quietly in the hallways, following directions the first time told, working quietly, having excellent behavior during assemblies and special classes, etc.  There is no limit to how many Gold Slips a child can earn each day.  Every Friday I will draw 4 Gold Slips from the jar and those students will get to choose a prize.

Birthdays ~

In order to make your child’s birthday a special day, if you wish you may bring in a small treat to share with our class (cookies, brownies or cupcakes).  There is a school policy which is to bring in enough treats for the class and only 2 extra to share with staff members of the child’s choice.  Also, please bring in napkins and cups (if you wish to provide juice or water).  Please let me know a few days prior to the celebration so I can fit it in the schedule.  Party invitations may not be distributed in class, please mail the invitations to avoid hurt feelings.  We also do not allow goodie bags to be distributed.  Due to allergies we have a nut free classroom.    Thank you!
 
Snack ~
 
We have a daily snack in 2nd grade.  Please provide your child with a small, nut-free snack every day.
